About Lunch with Legends
Lunch with Legends is a series of interactive articles celebrating the legal profession by highlighting the careers of the trailblazers, trend setters and treasures of the bar. Lunch with Legends started as
an idea after reading Napoleon Hill’s famed 1928 publication, The Law of Success. The principles espoused in Mr. Hill’s publication inspired the Lunch with Legends authors, attorneys Matt Plain and Elizabeth Merritt from Taylor, Duane, Barton & Gilman, LLP, to explore the common characteristics of greatness through members of their own profession. Over the lunch, the Legends share their war stories, the lessons learned, and their most inventive legal arguments.
Lunch with Legends appears series publication appearing in the Rhode Island Bar Association’s bi-monthly publication, The Rhode Island Bar Journal. This site provides a behind the scenes look at the process for selecting the “legends” and shares insights and information that did not otherwise make it to the Journal’s publication.
